This blog won't be full of my own words but I woke up this morning with a heavy heart. My friend Kacey happened to state my exact thoughts in her Facebook status:
"I'm so sad. I can barely stand the hate that election years brings to our country. This year has been unequaled. Why can't we all respect that we all have our own opinions and we vote based on our own VALID beliefs? I completely understand where every single person was coming from with their vote. But to tell ANYONE they are wrong for feeling the way they do, is messed up. Do you realize that no matter who you are, the way you feel in the pit of your stomach right now, is exactly how the other half of the nation would have felt if Hillary had won. Have compassion on your neighbor right now and remember that WE ARE ALL PEOPLE!!!! And Donald Trump... he needs more prayer than anyone I know."
I woke up this morning to more statuses that do nothing but bash Trump and all those that supported for him or voted for him. In reality, I know if Hillary won, the posts would be the same. So I took my heavy heart to the only place I knew I could find hope; in Christ alone.
MY GOD IS STILL GREAT
Hebrews 4:12 (HCSB)
12 For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart.
1 Samuel 8:6-9 (HCSB) - emphasis mine
6 When they said, “Give us a king to judge us,” Samuel considered their demand sinful, so he prayed to the Lord. 7 But the Lord told him, “Listen to the people and everything they say to you. They have not rejected you; they have rejected Me as their king. 8 They are doing the same thing to you that they have done to Me, since the day I brought them out of Egypt until this day, abandoning Me and worshiping other gods. 9 Listen to them, but you must solemnly warn them and tell them about the rights of the king who will rule over them.”
Ephesians 6:10-18 (HCSB) - emphasis mine
10 Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. 12 For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. 13 This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. 14 Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist,
righteousness like armor on your chest, 15 and your feet sandaled with readiness
for the gospel of peace. 16 In every situation take the shield of faith, and with it you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word. 18 Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.
Isaiah 31:1-3 (HCSB) - when we trust in man, there is no success - God is greater.
1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and who depend on horses! They trust in the abundance of chariots and in the large number of horsemen. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel and they do not seek the Lord’s help. 2 But He also is wise and brings disaster. He does not go back on what He says; He will rise up against the house of wicked men and against the allies of evildoers. 3 Egyptians are men, not God; their horses are flesh, not spirit. When the Lord raises His hand to strike, the helper will stumble and the one who is helped will fall;
both will perish together.
Isaiah 40:9-31 (HCSB) - God is greater
9 Zion, herald of good news, go up on a high mountain. Jerusalem, herald of good news, raise your voice loudly. Raise it, do not be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, “Here is your God!” 10 See, the Lord God comes with strength, and His power establishes His rule. His reward is with Him, and His gifts accompany Him. 11 He protects His flock like a shepherd; He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them in the fold of His garment. He gently leads those that are nursing. 12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand or marked off the heavens with the span of his hand? Who has gathered the dust of the earth in a measure or weighed the mountains in a balance and the hills in the scales? 13 Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or who gave Him His counsel? 14 Who did He consult with? Who gave Him understanding and taught Him the paths of justice? Who taught Him knowledge and showed Him the way of understanding? 15 Look, the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are considered as a speck of dust in the scales; He lifts up the islands like fine dust. 16 Lebanon is not enough for fuel, or its animals enough for a burnt offering. 17 All the nations are as nothing before Him; they are considered by Him as nothingness and emptiness.
18 Who will you compare God with? What likeness will you compare Him to? 19 To an idol? something that a smelter casts, and a metalworker plates with gold and makes silver welds for it? 20 To one who shapes a pedestal, choosing wood that does not rot? He looks for a skilled craftsman to set up an idol that will not fall over. 21 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not considered the foundations of the earth?
22 God is enthroned above the circle of the earth; its inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like thin cloth and spreads them out like a tent to live in. 23 He reduces princes to nothing and makes judges of the earth irrational. 24 They are barely planted, barely sown, their stem hardly takes root in the ground when He blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind carries them away like stubble.
25 “Who will you compare Me to, or who is My equal?” asks the Holy One. 26 Look up and see:
who created these? He brings out the starry host by number; He calls all of them by name. Because of His great power and strength, not one of them is missing. 27 Jacob, why do you say, and Israel, why do you assert: “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my claim is ignored by my God”? 28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? Yahweh is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. He never grows faint or weary; there is no limit to His understanding. 29 He gives strength to the weary and strengthens the powerless. 30 Youths may faint and grow weary, and young men stumble and fall, 31 but those who trust in the Lord
will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary;
they will walk and not faint.
Praying for the future of America; its people, its president, its healing. Man will fail us but we must see beyond the the flesh. Man is not the enemy and this battle is not an earthly one. Let us engage in the battle beyond.
